Transitions in the strain hardening behaviour of tempered martensite

چکیده
Martensite is a key constituent in advanced high strength steels (AHSS). The mechanical response of martensite has received particular attention recent years due to its very strain hardening rate. Previous studies have shown that the behaviour as-quenched and low temperature tempered can be described by considering as composite, with constituents showing spectrum yield strengths or residual transformation stresses, more likely, combination both effects. However, composite models are unable explain flow above 400°C when effect starts diminish transition observed. In this contribution, we conduct systematic study on three AHSS compositions. evolution studied using monotonic tension-compression tests while microstructures monitored thermal analysis, interrupted X-ray diffraction microscopy. A continuous loss capacity observed all during tempering at lower temperatures diminishing When 500°C, samples show rates below E/50 limit for dislocation storage gradual increase tempering. To rationalise 600°C, combined isotropic kinematic model back stresses generated cementite particles proposed. need combine work well martensite, dislocation-based discussed context self-consistently describing transitions function temperature.

Effects of Strain Hardening and Fine Structure on Strength and Toughness of Tempered Martensite in Carbon Steels
A series of medium-carbon low alloy steels was quenched to martensite and tempered at 150 C. This low-temperature-tempered (LTT) martensite was subjected to uniaxial tensile and impact testing. Yield and ultimate tensile strength and uniform elongation increased, and post uniform and total elongation and fracture toughness decreased, with increasing carbon concentration. The carbon dependence o...

متن کاملTuning tempered transitions
The method of tempered transitions was proposed by Neal (1996) for tackling the difficulties arising when using Markov chain Monte Carlo to sample from multimodal distributions. In common with methods such as simulated tempering and Metropolis-coupled MCMC, the key idea is to utilise a series of successively easier to sample distributions to improve movement around the state space. Tempered tra...
متن کاملOn the optimum die angle in rod drawing process considering strain-hardening effect of material
In this paper, rod drawing process of strain-hardening materials is investigated by analytical, numerical and experimental methods. The classic upper bound solution, based on the assumption of perfect plasticity, has been extended to consider the work-hardening of the material during the drawing process. For a given process conditions and mechanical properties of the rod material, the power ter...
